No significant safety concerns, including sterilization, have been observed during the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccine trials. Additionally, a vaccine cannot be approved without following set safety protocols. Approval cannot happen until last at least two months after the final shot is given during the clinical trial to monitor for safety concerns. Trial participants will be monitored for long term side effects for at least two years. #ShotOfHope

"The good news is not only that has he's recovered, but that he came back to get his vaccine." said Dr. Hussain, chief clinical officer for Trinity Health Of New England.

"The one thing I've always said to people for years is that I've never seen anyone die from the flu vaccination but I've seen people die from the flu and when this first came out, the information that was initially spread to us was that [COVID-19] was just like a flu and this is not a flu, this is nowhere near a flu," said Mark Kenton, DO, Medical Director of Emergency Services at Mercy and one of the first to receive the #COVID19 vaccine. #ShotOfHope
